Adding Stripe as an MCP
Before you start, make sure the MCP Server is set up. See MCPs for how MCPs work.- Go to Activate → MCPs, click New MCP and choose Stripe.
- Name your MCP and describe what it is used for. The agent reads the description to choose between MCPs of the same provider.
-
Setup access.
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
- Navigate to the API keys section and create a restricted API key.
- Grant the key only the permissions you want the AI to have. Note that test-mode keys also work and will scope the connection to your test environment.
- API key (Required): A Stripe secret or restricted API key. We strongly recommend a restricted key with only the permissions you want the AI to have — a read-only restricted key makes this a read-only connection, enforced by Stripe.
- Select tools. Pick the tools your agents can use. See Available tools below.
- Click Save. On Growth and Custom plans, choose who can use it; see Access levels.
Example prompts
- “Search the Stripe documentation for how to implement webhook signatures in Node.js.”
- “Look up the most recent invoices for the customer with the email address billing@example.com.”
- “Create a new payment intent for $50 USD for the customer we just found.”
- “Help me plan a Stripe integration for a subscription-based SaaS product.”
