If your tool for data visualization is Looker Studio and your datalake is hosted on GCP, here’s the guide to create the connection. Once you have your data ready to be consumed, you can connect it to a visualization tool to generate meaningful visuals.
If your datalake is set up on AWS or GCP, check its respective documentation links. The following tutorial works for workspaces created with Nekt Express.

1. Select Looker Studio as a Visualization

  1. Select Looker Studio on the list of available visualization tools
  2. Inform the email used on your Looker Studio account
  3. Add a description to better identify what will be shown on this visualization you’re creating
Great! Now you have authorized your account to connect with the data tables.

2. Choose the BigQuery connector

  1. Sign in to Looker Studio. Make sure you’re using the same email informed on Nekt.
  2. Click Create and then select Data Source
  3. Select the BigQuery connector
On your first time using BigQuery’s connector, you will need to authorize its use. Click AUTHORIZE and make sure to use the previously informed email to proceed. Click Allow to confirm permissions in this step.

3. Inform the Project ID

To connect with your tables, you’ll need inform the following Project ID: nekt-hosted-infrastructure. Hit the return (or Enter) button to confirm.
This is only required once. The next time you’ll import data to Looker Studio, the Project ID will be automatically recongnized.

4. Select the data and Explore

With the project ID properly recognized, you’ll see your tables. .
  1. Select the table you want to connect.
  2. Click Connect on the top right of your screen and you’re done!
You will have a preview of the columns in the selected table and can proceed with analyses by clicking Explore or Create Report.
