Once you have your data ready to be consumed, you can connect it to a visualization tool to generate meaningful visuals. If your tool for data visualization is Looker Studio and your datalake is hosted on GCP, here’s the guide to create the connection. If your datalake is set up on AWS, connect through our custom connector! Click here to know how.

1. Choose the BigQuery connector

  1. Sign in to Looker Studio
  2. Click Create and then select Data Source
  3. Select the BigQuery connector
On your first time using BigQuery’s connector, you will need to authorize its use. Click AUTHORIZE and use your BQ email to proceed. Click Allow to confirm permissions in this step.

2. Select the data and Explore

With the BigQuery connector selected and authorized, you must now select the data.
  1. Select the table you want to connect (it will probably be under the My Projects tab)
  2. Click Connect on the top right of your screen and you’re done!
You will have a preview of the columns in the selected table and can proceed with analyses by clicking Explore or Create Report.
